Why YouTube Links No Longer Work in Diffit
You may have noticed that you can’t generate materials directly from YouTube links anymore. That’s because YouTube recently updated its privacy and compliance policies. As a result, using links to pull content is no longer allowed – and is no longer supported in Diffit. We know this feature was helpful for many of you. If anything changes and we’re able to safely and securely bring it back, we absolutely will.
Here’s What You Can Do Instead
You can still create resources from YouTube videos. You’ll just need to copy and paste the transcript yourself. It’s quick, easy, and keeps you in control of what content gets included.
Here's how to get the transcript from a YouTube video:
- Open the video on YouTube.
-
Under the title, click on “…more” to expand the description.
-
Scroll down and click “Show transcript.”
-
The transcript will appear on the right. Highlight all the text, right-click, and choose Copy.
- Head to Diffit and paste the transcript into the textbox. With Diffit Classic, paste the transcript into the "Text, PDFs and Links" tab.

From there, you can customize the resource and add what you're teaching to the textbox to generate your resource.
